2012 Camp Information
Session One: June 4 –June 29
Session Two: July 9 – August 10
Flint Hills Summer Fun Camp is excited for its third year of hands-on learning, active play, and summer fun! Our program is designed for children entering K-6 grades and is led by professional educators. The program is designed to provide academic enrichment and fun to students of all ages and developmental levels, with spots reserved for students with an autism-spectrum disorder.
We are still planning this summer’s camp, but here are a few new developments:
- Our 2012 program will be at the newly remodeled Northview Elementary School.
- Breakfast and lunch will be provided to all students free of charge. Sack lunches are also welcome.
- Our program will run through August 10 this year, but we will be taking a break the week of July 4. Please note the dates for the sessions were wrong on the Camp Information side of the printed fliers distributed through the schools. Session one is June 4 June 29, and Session Two is July 9 August 10.
In addition to age-appropriate academic enrichment, students will have the opportunity to express their creativity daily through art, music, and drama activities.
We are still finalizing our summer plans, but in the past students have participated in swimming and swimming lessons, tae kwon do lessons, gymnastics lessons, and other fun activities that get their bodies moving.
This year’s field trips will follow a Discover Kansas theme and will include several bus trips around the region. (We’re still booking these as well!)
Students will be divided into four age groups: incoming Kindergarteners, 1-2 grades, 3-4 grades, and 5-6 grades. The Kindergarten group is capped at 10 students, and the others will be capped at 15. About 1/3 of the students in each group will have an autism-spectrum disorder (autism, PDD, PDD-NOS, Asperger’s Syndrome, etc.).
Enrollment begins February 1. Preference will be given to enrollments made before March 15 and full-time enrollments. Part-time and single-week slots will be accepted as space allows until slots are full. Parents must make a $250 deposit once their child is accepted to confirm their placement (this amount is prorated for those with a tuition balance less than $250).

Quotes from Parents:
“It keeps him active in areas he’d avoid or not do on his own — drama, math practice. It reinforces the self-regulation we’re working on at home and with the Capper Foundation.”
“I am beyond thrilled with this camp and all of the amazing educational/fun activities that are done during the day. Her people skills and kindergarten skills grew definitely!”
“The staff were amazing. My daughter enjoyed all the different activities. Learning was made fun. My daughter came home happy and was always excited to go back the next day. She was exposed to many learning opportunities (music, drama, art, speech)….In the beginning, she asked some questions about children who reacted differently to situations. I think the camp has taught her to be patient and accepting of others who are different from her.”
“It changed his behavior!! I noticed positive changes in him and liked the behavior modifications you did. He also says he has friends!”
